HLI was invited to assist in the installation of control cabinets as part of the expansion of the Olefins unit at the Płock refinery. The scope of work included designing the necessary transport systems and installing 182 panels weighing between 1 and 10 tons. Our team executed the installation operation at an accelerated pace, employing solutions such as a stationary crane, a mobile crane, and forklifts, carefully adapted to the room geometry and the weight of each cabinet. All work was conducted in close cooperation with SHINBO Co., Ltd.
Scope of Work
- Element weight: 1–10 tons,
- Number of elements: 182,
- Design of installation concept,
- Design, supply, and installation of temporary structures,
- Supply of mechanical and hydraulic technologies for vertical and horizontal transport,
- Supply of modular construction systems,
- Comprehensive horizontal and vertical transport services.

Step 1 – Forklift
The cabinet was lifted from the balcony from below using a forklift, transported near the installation location, then set aside and lifted from above using slings attached to the forks. It was then positioned on the frame at its final location.

Step 2 – Mobile crane
The cabinet was lifted from the balcony with a forklift, transported, and placed on a platform between the crane rails, then lifted by the mobile crane. The crane moved the cabinet over the installation area and lowered it onto the frame.

Step 3 – Stationary crane
The cabinet was positioned on roller tracks within the rails using a crane, transported along the platform to the crane’s operating area, and then lifted by the stationary crane. The crane transported the cabinet over the installation site and set it onto the frame.

Step 4 – Hydraulic system
The cabinet was placed on roller tracks using a crane, transported along the platform over a pedestal with hydraulic actuators, lifted, rails were installed under the cabinet, and it was lowered onto them. It was then moved over the target frame, lowered onto the frame using the hydraulic actuators, and finally positioned at the installation site using a chain hoist.
