HLI was invited to participate in coordinating the heavy lifting operations for the construction of two HRSG boilers, each weighing 1050 tonnes. The boiler components were transported from the prefabrication yard to the assembly site using SPMT (Self-Propelled Modular Transporters). Our scope included coordination of all the heaviest transports using SPMTs and both hydraulic and lattice cranes to their final positions. Additionally, HLI was responsible for the direct installation of the supplied strand jack system used for lifting the pressure sections of the boilers (800 tonnes each) and providing essential assistance during all lifting operations.
Scope of Works
- Collaboration with multiple stakeholders, leveraging HLI personnel experience in strand jack lifting operations.
- General support for client personnel during assembly works.
- Installation and operation of the strand jack system and other specialized lifting equipment.
- Supervision and coordination of horizontal and vertical transport of oversized elements,
- Direct supervision of third-party personnel.

Step 1
The boiler segments were transported to the assembly area using SPMTs and positioned on temporary supports. The rope system is attached to the first component.

Step 2
Using the rope-and-actuator system, the first component is lifted several meters to allow space for the second component underneath, then gently lowered to connect it with the next component.

Step 3
The first three sections are lifted to the top and mounted on the final “pins.”

Step 4
Horizontal transport of the fourth component and preparation of the rope system for the lifting operation.

Step 5
Assembly of the fifth component and preparation of the boiler walls for lifting, followed by the temporary installation of the front wall onto the fifth pressure package.

Step 6
Precise vertical alignment of the front boiler wall. Lifting of the fifth pressure package along with the front wall.

Step 7
Preparation of the side walls using a hydraulic crane and installation of the components.
