HLI undertook a project at the Grupa Azoty SA chemical plants in Kędzierzyn-Koźle. The task involved the comprehensive design and delivery of a complete system to extract a used heat exchanger weighing 60 tons from the ammonia production unit and replace it with a new one. The operation was executed smoothly and efficiently, thanks to the experience and specialized expertise of the HLI team, while the transport system composed of trolleys and rollers performed flawlessly according to plan.
Scope of Work
- Weight of each component: 60 tons
- Transport distance: 20 m
- Design of the installation concept
- Design, supply, and installation of temporary structures
- Supply of mechanical and hydraulic technologies for transport operations
- Supply of lifting technologies
- Comprehensive horizontal and vertical transport services

Step 1
Installation of transport trolleys and actuator platforms under the heat exchanger. The exchanger is then lifted from the foundation and placed on the trolley beds.

Step 2
Transporting the exchanger toward the exit, lifting it with actuators, and repositioning the trolley.

Step 3
Moving the exchanger and transferring it to a third trolley on the opposite side of the foundation, after which the exchanger exits the installation.

Step 4
The old exchanger is removed using a crane, and the new exchanger is placed on the trolleys by the crane.

Step 5
Transporting the exchanger to the foundation, transferring it to the trolley on the opposite side, and performing the maximum travel of the exchanger.

Step 6
Lifting the exchanger with actuators and repositioning the transport trolley, then moving the exchanger over the assembly location.
